Fern Cottage
The limestone built Fern Cottage is believed to date back to the 1700’s. The cottage stands close to the village green and, although relatively small in size, represents a very comfortable holiday home without compromising on its cottage atmosphere. Foolow is well known as being a small friendly village and guests at Fern Cottage certainly seem to enjoy being at “the hub” of village life.
The interior has what appear to be the original pine beams to the ground floor accommodation (mind your head!) and a very old large stone fireplace which, whilst having been largely superseded by gas fired central heating adds to the atmosphere. A Belfort range is in place for those preferring a “real log fire”. The cottage is carpeted throughout.
The LIVING AREA at Fern Cottage (illustrated right) has a comfortable traditional suite and a colour television. The total effect is to create a room which, with its low beamed ceiling, is both cosy and full of old world charm and atmosphere.

The DINING KITCHEN AREA has been refitted with limed oak units, absolutely in keeping with a country cottage, with granite worktops. There is a microwave, a fitted cooking hob, a fitted electric convection oven with grill, electric toaster, electric kettle, refrigerator, plenty of crockery, cutlery, pans, towels, tea towels, iron, ironing board, drying rack, vacuum cleaner, dusters etc.
The BEDROOM has an oak stained high pitched beamed ceiling, fitted pine wardrobes, dressing table, bedside tables and period style double bed with pine headboard. Full duvet style bedding/sheets/pillows. The window in this area affords a pleasant view looking across the fields towards Eyam. ![]()
The BATHROOM has a shower over the bath and a heated towel rail. The SMALL GARDEN area has a stone terrace affording access to the cottage and the garage from the front gate.
There is both a GARAGE and a car standing space just off the road. It is felt that, with its narrow staircase, Fern Cottage may not be ideally suited to visitors with impaired mobility. Central heating, electricity, towels and bedding are free of charge. 24 hour return laundry service available.Dogs are not accepted at Fern Cottage - although they are by arrangement at Brosterfield Cottage.
