Brosterfield Cottage

Brosterfield Cottage

Brosterfield Cottage is believed to date from the late seventeenth century. Whilst being close to the Hall it represents a detached cottage offering a complete contrast from Fern Cottage insofar as it is around half a mile from the village approached by way of a private road serving originally Brosterfield Farm and Brosterfield Hall.

The cottage enjoys outstanding open views across fields taking in Longstone Edge and the village of Wardlow. It was converted from being a farm building into its present form in 1983 and has subsequently been continually refurbished. The building is of limestone with oak stained beams to the interior. Whilst visitors have access to much of the eight acres attached to Brosterfield Hall, and many enjoy taking short strolls enjoying the views, the cottage has its own parking area and a small lawned garden partially screened with conifers and laurel hedging. A garden seat along with a table and chairs are in place to the frontage.

Brosterfield Cottage has full oil fired central heating, electric cooking facilities and again is carpeted throughout.

The LIVING KITCHEN has a flame-effect convector set within a limestone fire surround, a comfortable suite, oak stained Captain’s dining chairs with limed table and a colour television. Oak stained beams add to the atmosphere as do the French oak kitchen units. There is a fitted electric cooking hob, a modern fitted convection oven with grill, toaster, refrigerator, microwave and electric kettle. Towels, tea towels, crockery, cutlery, pans, iron, ironing board, drying rack, vacuum cleaner and dusters are all provided.

An open staircase with high picture window leads up to the BEDROOM which has single beds, pine wardrobe and drawers with a feature being the co-ordinated fabrics of the curtains, bedding etc. (duvet style bedding/sheets/pillowcases are provided). The beds can by request be placed side by side but this would be at the expense of the bedside tables being removed and access being from the bases rather than the sides of the beds themselves.

The BATHROOM has a traditional suite (but no shower). To the exterior is the LAWNED GARDEN area exclusive to the cottage and CAR STANDING space well away from any roads. A further feature are the views over open countryside. Central heating, electricity, towels and bedding are free of charge. A 24 hour return laundry service is available.

Well behaved 100% housetrained dogs are accepted at Brosterfield Cottage by arrangement although they must not at any time be left unattended.
